Obituary of Jon Richard Haglund

Jon Richard Haglund was born on June 3, 1958 in Tacoma, Washington. He passed away at his Lakewood home on June 27, 2012 after a long battle with diabetes, and its related health challenges. Jon was the fifth and youngest child of Richard and Muriel Haglund. He was raised in Steilacoom, was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, and attended Cherrydale Elementary School, Pioneer Middle School, Mann Jr. High School and Lakes High School. After graduation, Jon worked in retail sales and management throughout the Puget Sound region including at Lakewood Villa Stereo, Radio Shack and Costco. Jon loved to sing. He could often be found participating in, or hosting karaoke in the Tacoma area. Holidays were also a particular joy to Jon especially Christmas and July 4th. Both of those times will be a lot less colorful without Jon’s Christmas lights extravaganza and Independence Day fireworks. Now, Jon has gone to keep company with his dad, Richard, who preceded him in death by three weeks. He is survived by his mom and loving caregiver, Muriel, siblings Chris (Lee) Chase, Mark Haglund, Diane (Larry) Mundy, and Geraldine (John) Leskovar, nephews Phillip Chase, Peter Chase, Matthew (Tova) Haglund, Michael Haglund, and Michael (Lisa) Leskovar, nieces Michelle (Phil) Campos, Laurel Mundy, Cheryl (Gil) Pena, and Karen (Joe) Keyser, great-niece Lily Campos, and great-nephews Roman Leskovar and Gabriel Pena.Jon’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 21st at 1:00 p.m. at the Tacoma Outboard Association, 646 S. Wilton Rd., University Place, Washington. Memorials in Jon’s name can be made to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852 or at (800)638-8299 or at www.kidneyfund.org
