So sorry to hear of your loss. I roomed with Louise in Cambridge and met Kent there. He was a Renaissance Man then too. You were so blessed to have such a wonderful life. M.S.

I didn't know Kent very well, but he impressed me as someone who embodied the symbol I chose to accompany my message: 'Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness'. This community has lost a bright light, though fond memories of him will long shine on. My deepest condolences to Suzanne and all Kent's loved ones.

Dad was an awesome man. Full of ideas and talk and willingness to tackle the hard stuff. He was perfectly human, a great dad and contributor to the world. A fine thinker, he thought about communication, human motivation, his own existence and what he could do to make a positive difference. I am not ready to say goodbye. I still have things I want to discuss with him, ideas to ponder and 1,000 more arguments and I love yous to have. I am grateful for his gifts and his time with us. I love you Dad. Your cutest and most modest daughter Josie,

I deeply appreciate and respect Kent's efforts for peace and solar power. I met him soon after he left his job with GE about 30 years ago, and I have appreciated his friendship ever since. I wish Suzanne and the whole family well.

Gandhi once said,' If you want to change the world you must first change yourself' Boyd Kent Alcorn was the ever-changing man. He was constantly fine-tuning himself, in hopes to change the world. When Kent first came into my life, I was in grade-school. He was married to Luise Alcorn and had two daughters my age, Greta and Julie. They later, in junior-high, became my sisters. From junior-high on, Kent was my 'stepfather'. A word which became truly dear and meaningful to me. He and my mother were, and still are sole-mates. In every aspect of life, they were crafted to be together, and so they were for thirty-six years. They were a perfect role-model for me when I chose to marry Scott Phillip Warfield. One can only hope to have such a productive, meaningful, beautiful life as Boyd Kent Alcorn had. For the past fifteen years he has been Grandfather,'Fafa', to my three children. He has past on to them, the love of music, french cooking, and the gift of gab. I raise my glass of the best french wine, and toast his name; Kent, Step-dad, fafa- You will be missed, and never forgotten. Love, your stepdaughter Marlene Stewart Warfield

I am so saddened by this loss, though we knew his health has been fragile for quite awhile. I think the last time I saw him and asked(hoping things were well)how he was doing and he said he had to go to the hospital. Like other times I assumed he would come back and do more inventing and working on more peace and justice issues. Kent and Suzanne have been really good friends to my husband and I through the years. Kent actually played at our wedding. We really had some fun times getting together at their house and watching movies. We met them at Hillside Community Church where they had been founding members and grew to know them as the years went by. When the pastor retired Suzanne ran the church for quite awhile. They bought the parsonage when it was empty because our Pastor had moved out and used it for all sorts of good works. They also helped out families at Hillside in need and stood by them when they needed someone. In fact helping and caring for people has been their really strong attribute. Kent was always a peace and justice person and though he rarely came to meetings, he had his heart with us at Fellowship of Reconciliation and attended retreats, Seabeck and FOR concerts. I really will miss him, but Suzanne you will be with us and Kent will be with us in our memories. Vivi

Deeply saddened by departure of this model of a human being. Kent donated the funds to purchase the computer I am typing this on for the Bill of Rights Defense Committee at the start of our efforts to oppose the opening of the Northwest Detention Center. He was a rock in our efforts and always provided wise counsel and strongly supported the cause. He inspired me in so many ways and I'm just sad I didn't get to say good-bye. I'm also sad I never got to get arrested with him - it would have been a fun night in jail. 'To live in hearts we leave behind Is not to die.' Thomas Campbell

Deeply saddened by the loss of Kent Alcorn but inspired to read on this Bastille Day 2010 of so many and so varied accomplishments of my friend and fellow amateur of French letters and the French language. Kent was a man of great heart and deep and humane convictions, like Victor Hugo, who wrote: 'Le sort nous use au jour, triste meule qui tourne. / L'homme inquiet et vain croit marcher, il sjourne ; / Il expire en crant. / Nous avons la seconde et nous rvons l'anne ; / Et la dimension de notre destine, / C'est poussire et nant. . . . Tous y viendront.'
