Obituary of Gregory F. Dawson

“Best Daddy In The World” Greg, 51, passed away at home August 15, 2010, Tacoma, WA, after battling brain cancer, Glioblastoma Multiforme for over two years. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Lorna; daughters Hannah, Sarah and Mary; mom Dorothy Ragland (Texas); sister Sara (Bahram, TX), brother Robert (TX); sister Kim (TX); grandmother Violet Hager (Tacoma) and numerous aunts, uncles, extended family members and loyal, close friends. Preceded in death by his older brother Clint and father Robert Dawson. At Greg’s request there will be no funeral services Surviving extended family to include, uncle Sam Dawson (Pat,TX); sister Cate Leach (Bill, CT); sister Patricia Barstow (Bill, AK); Barbara Nordin (Dave, Woodinville); Debbie Mendenhall (Phillip, Seattle) and Tom (Kelly,Tacoma). Greg served over 6 years in the Army in the Combat Aviation Troop and the Bravo Troop, the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment, Thunderhorse Squadron, “Black Horse”, in Germany patrolling the east/west border. Flying was his passion. After an honorable discharge, he joined the reserves, then the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department where he served 20 years beginning with street patrol. Greg completed his Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics at Embry Riddle and received the IASCIS Certification in Computer Forensics. He moved up in the department serving in Special Investigations, Civil, Criminal Investigations, Homicide, Arson and Computer Forensics and the Search and Rescue Unit. He married the girl next door in 1992 and in 1999 they began adopting children, three beautiful girls, who lit up his eyes whenever he spoke about them. They will miss the “Best Daddy In The World” and Lorna will miss her wonderful husband.
