Dear Sam, People say I put others before myself. I'm that way because somehow I always get by! Then one day, I needed help! My Dad was hurt badly and was on the other side of the world for his job. You stepped up, you made sure my Mom was on the next plane the same day. And then when she wound up in the hospital too, you started working on getting me there too. You helped me raise $ for a passport, ticket and living expenses in another country. You also made it possible for me to be there for the most important time of need in my family history. I hugged you with all my familys love, but it wans't enough. I wanted to hug you and thank you everytime I saw you. I will find a way to share the kindness you shared with my family and we will never forget you. Thank you Sam Simpson, you more than earned your angle wings. Daniel balliet

Over the 6 years that I had the pleasure of working with Sam, I will always remember his sense of humor, his cheerfulness, and his willingness to help anyone who came into his shop. He helped me so much and I'll never forget it. We will miss him. Rest in Peace, my friend.

I had the great fortune to work with Sam over the course of several years at Fort Lewis. He helped me as he did legions of others. 'Can't' was not one of his words. Sam was a man of honor, humility and humor. His absence will be felt by all of us who were lucky to walk even a moment with him in this life. Our legacy is defined in our family, the friends we keep and the deeds we do. Sam did very well. Our sincere condolences and prayers to Susannah, family, and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of Sam's passing. I only know him as a terrific friend on Farmville. His name was one I always recognized when it came up on the screen. He was so faithful to us in sending gifts and visiting our farms. This translates to me as the character he must have had away from the virtual world. I really appreciate that I knew him in this way. May God bless you and help you with this loss in your life. Judy Harper

I met Sam at our V.F.W. Post a few times and I always enjoyed seeing him. The world got a little smaller when he left us, but, I guess God has other plans for Sam. I know for a fact that Sam is in that special place in Heaven that God has set aside for Veterans. Anyone who defends our freedoms deserves to be in that place. We will miss you, Sam, see you soon.

I've known Sam since 1999, when he taught us the PLS, and I couldn't have asked for a better boss and was glad to have him as a friend. He may have had a gruff way about him, but he had a huge heart, and loved Zannah very much. If St. Pete gives him trouble at the Gates, it's O.K because I can still hear him saying 'Vern, Get the gate!'

I've spent a lot of time thinking of my Uncle Sam this last week. I will always remember him for his generousity. He had a very generous heart toward my family and children, to his country, and especially toward his bride, Aunt Zanna. Seeing his genuine generousity has encouraged me to be the same as my Uncle. To give with joy. What a gift. Uncle Sam, you are greatly missed. We love you. *Jena (For the O'Harras)
