Obituary of Patrick John Mahoney

In Loving Memory Of Patrick John Mahoney April 3, 1970 - May 9, 2009 Patrick was born to Michael James, Sr. and Charlotte Patricia Mahoney (Bashaw) at 8 pm on Friday April 3, 1970, weighing in at 8 lbs even and 20 inches long. The Mahoney family was expecting a girl and his big brother Michael,Jr was promised a girl (they didn't have ultrasound back then). At first Mikey was very upset until his mother told him that he had a baby brother, but his cousin Eddie only had a sister. He was the best big brother after that. Patrick has lived in the Tacoma area most of his life and in the last seven years he has lived in Yelm. He went to the Bethel school district during most of his schooling but graduated from Wilson High School in Tacoma . During his school years Pat loved wrestling and went to State Championships in 1987 at Bethel (before he transferred to Wilson ). In 1972 a little girl was born to the Mahoney family, Pat and Mike were both very excited to have a little sister, Caprice Jeanne' Mahoney, she was only 4 lbs and 1 oz at birth, born 2 months premature. Pat became a very protective brother along with Mike and they spoiled her a lot. Life wasn't easy in the Mahoney household and after his parent’s divorce the three children went to live with the loving Jan and Vernon Iszler family. After that they lived again with Mike, Sr and then went to live with their Aunt and Uncle. Things got tougher and their Uncle left. After that it was just their wonderful Aunt Mary, who raised them along with her three children. His mother lived in California now. Charlotte was back in their lives, but Mary was the parent that taught him all his good values. Aunt Mary loved them as her own. Pat's father married Jackie Clarkson and he then had two more brothers, Tristan and Joshua and another sister, Billie. In 2000 not long after his 30th birthday Pat was to become a quadriplegic. Mike and Jackie divorced but Jackie, being the loving Mother that she is, kept Pat, and continued to care for him with a great amount of love and devotion. Being paralyzed was hard for Pat, but he loved giving his nieces, nephews, and friend’s children a ride on his motorchair. The kids loved it and loved Uncle Pat. One of the things Pat loved to do was to play pool at the Pit Stop in Yelm. Yes, he had some movement in his right arm and a special pool cue was bought for him by Jackie, it had the Grateful Dead teddy bears on it, they would duct tape the pool cue to his hand so he could play pool with family and friends. He was quite proud of this accomplishment. He had a passion about Harley’s and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Even though he liked watching sports, wrestling, NASCAR, and crimes shows like; CSI, Flash Point, and Lie to me, he enjoyed watching Charmed, (probably, because of Alyssa Milano). He also had to watch The Price is Right everyday (Jackie got him hooked). He loved to dance even after he was paralyzed. He enjoyed getting out on the dance floor with his motorchair, and boogie for the ladies. P.J. that was the name his sister Caprice always called him, was quite the comedian. He loved to joke a lot with his younger sister Billie, telling her she had ED, because she didn't know what it meant he enjoyed teasing her about it. One day Billie saw the commercial about ED and discovered the meaning and told him that she did not have that and to stop saying that. He enjoyed joking with Jackie when she would get him up in the morning by telling her that he thought something was wrong with him. "I think I have Botulism” or he would say “I think I have Salmonella”. Jackie would say, “Yes, there is something wrong with you, but it is not that. Also, sometimes when Jackie would get him dressed he would wait until she got his pants on half way up and then tell her that those weren’t the pants he wanted to wear that day. She would tell him tough he was stuck with the ones she had already dressed him in. He had a way about him that made everyone laugh. Even, though he did not like being in the wheelchair his sense of humor was never lost. There are so many people that loved Patrick, because he had a good soul. Patrick donated his corneas so that somebody could be blessed with sight. It would be to long of a list to name all the people that Patrick left behind, so for everyone that is not named please know that he loved you all. Pat is survived by his three Mothers (yes all three in order of care); Charlotte Bashaw, Mary Vaughan and Jackie Clarkson, his father; Michael James Mahoney, Sr. He leaves behind three brothers; Michael James Mahoney, Jr, Anthony Tristan Clarkson (Tristan), Martin Joshua Clarkson (Josh) and two sisters; Billie Arlene Mahoney, and Caprice Jeanne’ Brown (Mahoney) ,Brother-in-Law; Erik Brown, His Aunt Mary and cousins Eddie, Kim and Mark (which he called his brothers and sister also).
