Billy Atwood

Obituary of Billy Atwood

Billy was born on December 25, 1982 to loving parents, Jean and William Atwood. Billy’s birth completed the Atwood Family, one boy and one girl. Billy’s older sister Angela adored her little brother and became his greatest defender and protector. The two of them were nearly inseparable. Billy was a great baby. He rarely cried and was smiling all the time. He was tiny yet learned to walk very early and then began to get into everything. One habit that he endured for the rest of his life. He started school at DeLong Elementary. From the first days he loved going to school, not necessarily for the learning experience in the classroom but more so on the playground. He just loved to be around his friends and couldn’t wait for recess. During the 5th grade Billy wore his “uniform” everyday. His uniform was black jeans and a 49’ers shirt. When his teacher asked why he always wore the same outfit his response was that his mom would only buy him black jeans and 49’ers shirts and that was all the clothes he had.” He played baseball, football, and wrestled. He loved sports and his favorite NFL team was the San Francisco 49’ers. Then came middle school. Oh, what he did and didn’t do. This was a trying time for the school authorities. Billy did things that would frighten fish. As a child Billy loved to go hunting with Big sis Angela and his Dad. He loved being out in the woods and he loved camping out and cooking on the Coleman stove. This is where his love for BBQ began. Billy also loved fishing. He wasn’t too successful though. He caught his first and only fish at Wapato Lake. In his excitement, he accidentally thru the fish back into the lake. No one can remember him catching anything else. Even so he loved it and some afternoons would grab his fishing gear and take off by himself. As teenagers Billy an Kristina met and at first did not like each other. But soon thereafter they fell in love. Billy had the honor of escorting Kristina to her high school prom. They married on May 24, 2004. One of their favorite things to do was pop some popcorn and cuddle on the sofa watching movies. This was their special time together but they still asked everyone else to join them. Soon after their baby, Mercedes Rose, was born. What a beautiful baby girl. She was his greatest joy and he was so proud of her. She was his “roll dawg”. We are sure that “Cedes” will cherish the memories of her Daddy. In 2009, Baby Billy Atwood III, was born. There wasn’t a happier Daddy on earth! Billy had his baby boy, a spitting image of himself. Billy loved to share with his friends all the milestones Baby Billy accomplished. When he began to crawl, his first tooth, and when he began walking. Baby Billy completed Billy and Kristina’s family. Billy was a surrogate father to his two nephews Aiden & Jordan. They called him “uncle/dad”. Billy took them to school, coached their basketball teams, and taught them how to wrestle. No uncle was more loved by his nephews. When his dad Bill was too weak to go hunting by himself, Billy went with him. They both enjoyed each others company and always talked about the next year’s season. Billy’s mom, Jean, has had a very rough last 3 years. She has been in and out of the hospital suffering from COPD and breast cancer. Billy was always encouraging his mom to get better and was at her bedside daily. To carry on their home movie night routine, Billy brought a movie and his laptop with him to let her know she wasn’t going to miss out just because she wasn’t in the living room at home. He always told her that everything was going to be ok and to stay strong. His smile always lit up her hospital room. Billy, we will miss you very much and will cherish our memories of you forever. We love you Billy. The Family
