Obituary of Elaine Milliren

Celebrating her life Elaine was born on August 12, 1927 in Longview, Washington to Bernard and Edna Wooley. She grew up in Castle Rock and Toledo Washington, one of four children, and graduated from Toledo High School in 1945. She then went on to St. Joseph’s School of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse, graduating in 1948. For over 30 years she proudly worked as an RN at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma. On September 17, 1948 she married Carlton Cecil “Bud” Milliren, and began to raise the family she cherished. Elaine is preceded in death by her husband Bud, sister Diane, and grandson David. She is survived by her sons Mike (wife Elsie), Tim, and Kevin (wife Kelly), and her daughters Donna and Patty Costa, and by her grandchildren Eric, Elizabeth, Nico, Kurtis, and Kelcey. She is also survived by her brother Dean and sister Fran “Pixie” Nelson. She will be remembered for being a devoted wife and mother, dedicated nurse, supportive friend, and loving mom to many, many pets throughout the years. With her help her children always had what they needed, and knew they were loved. She was also a terrific cook, taking her kids into the kitchen to learn to bake cookies, and passing on that legacy. Her keen sense of humor delighted, her gentle hands provided comfort, and her strength of character was an example for her family and other around her. Elaine enjoyed the last sixteen years of her life with her many friends at the Tahoma Vista Village in Tacoma. On April 27, 2012 she left this earth to be with her Lord. For the rest of us our lives will forever be missing a piece. She will always be loved. She will always be missed.
