Obituary of Aida Tolentino

Aida Tolentino passed October 17 peacefully in her sleep due to congestive heart failure. Born Sept. 10, 1925 in Cavite City, Philippines, Aida is survived by her four children: Millie Miller-Hoover, John Yingling, Jr., Vida Yingling-Thomas, and Rico Yingling. She also leaves three grandchildren: Lisa Garcia Lee, Bret Yingling, and David Yingling, and two great-grand children Nancy Anna and Heather Lynn Lee. Aida was a beautiful woman growing up in post-war Philippines. She danced with, and soon after, married the handsome Air Force Private John H. Yingling, Sr. in 1950. They were known as the best dance couple at the NCO club at Clark Air Base. They lived their life living in the Philippines, Azores, New Hampshire, California, Ohio, finally settling in Tacoma. Their marriage lasted a wonderful 38 years. Aida was an avid crocheter, winning awards at the Puyallup Fair and making hand-crocheted bedspreads for many family and friends. She was well liked by all the kids so her home was the place to hang out. Aida will be fondly remembered by all for her Christmas Eve feasts. She prepared Filipino foods for the traditional midnight supper. Aida retired after serving 25 years in the Federal Government. Services: Saturday October 24, 2009 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven at 14601 A St. S., Tacoma. 8:30 a.m. viewing, 9:00 a.m. Rosary, and 10:00 a.m. Mass with a reception following. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center 253-566-1008.
