Obituary of Ellen Bessie Cobble

Ellen Bessie Cobble passed away peacefully in her residence on the 3rd of August after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. In Oakley, Idaho, a small farming town, Ellen was born February 2nd, 1924 to Francis Noah Lee and Effie May (Strong) Lee. It was there she met her husband of 61 years, Lee F. Cobble, a World War II veteran, who passed away in 2002. Together, they had two children, William and Steve. The family spent time in Germany, Steilcoom, Ellensburg, and eventually retired to Orting, Washington. Ellen would probably describe herself as being an old -fashioned country gal who enjoyed the small important things in life. She was an excellent seamstress, cook, and gardener. Her ability to light up the darkest of rooms and warm the coldest of hearts made her a truly amazing woman. Ellen was part of the greatest generation and embodied the values that make this country great. One of her lasting contributions was instilling those values into her children and grandchildren through love and affection; and being the cornerstone of strength during challenging times. Her life was dedicated to family. Heaven will be a better place with her presence. Ellen is survived by her brother Jack Lee, son William (Marilyn) Cobble, and her grandchildren Lisa (Gary) Binner, Deborah (Wayne) Rumbaugh, Melissa (Albert) Chavez, Heidi (Joey) Mertlich and Sam Cobble. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Cobble, son, Steve Cobble, and grandson, David Cobble. A memorial service will be held on August 19th at 11:00 am, at Tahoma National Cemetary: 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA 98042. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center- 1100 Fairview Ave. N. PO Box 19024 Seattle, WA 98109. Funeral arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center.
