Obituary of Llewellyn Edgar Daniels

Born: in Dickinson, North Dakota on June 28th, 1925 Died: December 7th, 2010 (anniversary of Pearl Harbor attack) at 85 years of age. Born to parents Edgar and Treva Daniels. Their children also included Marlyn, Richard, and Bette. His father Edgar was a partner with his brother Harold (Lew’s uncle) on a farm in North Dakota where Lew grew up for his first 10 years of life. Hard times of the “dust bowl” era took its toll on the family farm business and the family packed up and headed westward landing in the Portland/Vancouver area in the Northwest in 1935. Lew loved to talk about the years on the farm and his rich heritage, about the faith of his parents and their love for God. Many times he would reminisce with his immediate family about the belief of his parents in divine healing. On numerous occasions in growing up, Edgar and Treva, (Lew’s folks), would need to call upon God for divine intervention in regard to the health of their children. Lew’s father Edgar became known as a man of prayer and was called upon by neighbors for prayer to intercede in their crisis times as well. Upon moving to the Northwest, Lew worked as a paper boy delivering papers for the Columbian news which helped in part to support the family. Later, he worked as an apprentice arc welder under employ at the Kaiser Vancouver Shipyards. He served in the military with the US Coastguard from June 22nd, 1943 until May 2nd, 1946. It always stood out in his mind that his military I.D. number was #666-666. Married at age 21, in the month of June 1946, just one month out of the US Military Service, he began to have children. First Dottie, then Leon, Lynn, and Richard. He studied and graduated from Whitworth College in Spokane, WA with a bachelor’s degree in teaching. Teaching music in school in both band and voice became his forte as an instructor. 1957-58 became years of crucial shift in his vocation, as decisions were made to move to the Insurance industry where he became a successful salesman and there remained for the rest of his career. Lew remarried in 1967 to Dorothy Anne and her children are Darcy, Diana and Dara. One of Lew’s great joys and past times in life was reading. He loved to study Bible prophecy. If you were to happen upon him in the midst of a good book, then you must resolve yourself to sitting and listening awhile, because he would want you to join in on the fun by hearing all that he was learning. One of his most favorite Pastor and Preachers was Pastor John Hagee. Being goal oriented he liked to keep lists to order his day and beyond. Once retirement age was achieved, Lew with Dorothy, took up full time travel and loved it. Together, they took many trips back and forth between Washington in the summer and Arizona in the winter. Sunshine he loved! While on earth, he was a good husband, great father, and wonderful grandfather. He now joins the hosts in the heavens and enjoys the presence of Jesus Christ and the God he loved and served.
