Obituary of Warren John Eljenholm

Warren was born 3/20/28 in Hoquiam.WA, to Freda and Eric Eljenholm. He started grade school in Sumner, WA, then to Auburn, WA, where he remained and graduated in 1946. He was involved in student politics and was a QB for the Auburn Trojan football team and participated in track for 3 years. After graduation, Warren volunteered in the Marine Corp. but was selected for the Air Force. Upon discharge, he attended and graduated from the Univ. of Oregon. He was President of his SAE Fraternity. After marrying Shirley Gregory of Auburn, he was recalled into the Air Force during the Korean conflict. He attended various training sessions and was assigned to a fighter interceptor squadron. Almost immediately, he was sent to the Foreign Language Inst in Monterey, CA where he studied Serbo Croatian. He then joioned the Intelligence Community in DC and remained for a number of years. When he left DC, he was hired by Safeco Ins in Seattle as a marketing trainee. He rose to the rank of Regional VP & then transferred to Safeco Title and eventually became chairman. Warren was a gregarious, generous man who was admired and respected by friends and co-workers alike. When he retired, he moved to Pebble Beach, CA, and joined MPCC. Warren and his wife, Barb, divided their time between Carmel Valley and Gig Harbor WA, where he joioned Canterwood Golf and Country Club. They also travelled extensively in the states and Europe. In accordance with Warren's wishes, there was no funeral or memorial. Memorial contributions may be made to Franciscan Health Care, University Place. WA.
