Anna was my grandmother and, although we weren't very close, I got to know her during several extended periods when she lived with us. She liked to play bingo and I went with her once, winning a small pot and a taste of victory. She was always very friendly to me and had a positive demeanor. I used to say goodnight to her as I passed her room and saw her reading in bed. There was only once I remember her getting cross, with my dad, when we were driving across town in the cab of his truck. I cant remember the subject but her anger came as a total shock to me and to my dad. I remember visiting her house as a small child, when she still lived with her second husband. She was poor and all of the furniture had a strange, musty feel to me. Regardless, she was and is part of my family heritage. When I think of the last 20 odd years of her life I think of her moving around to various residences and then nursing homes, never finding anything that worked for more than a couple years. I tried to see her when visiting Seattle over the holidays. I think she outlived most if not all of her friends and acquaintances and I suspect she was very lonely the last few years. Sad. Rest in peace, Grandma Gonda, you lived a good long life.

I was Anna's eldest son Frank Peto. I am 73 years and have been married to Sue for 44 years. We have three children two girls and a boy. I lived with Anna till I was eight years old, and then went to live with my father John. My grandmothers dying wish was that I take care of Anna. A dauting task for a eleven year old. At that age I was left with all my grandmothers possions. Although she did not die till I was eighteen. Anna lived with me several times. Her health failed and she had to go into a rest home. I visited many times. She had a very loving disposition. She held on to her faith as a Catholic till the end.
