Obituary of James Edward McGee

Jim McGee was born in Tacoma, Washington on September 9, 1944 to parents Harland and Nancy McGee. He graduated from Franklin Pierce Senior High School in 1963. Jim served his country and was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1967. He served as a police officer in Omaha, Nebraska in the early 70’s. Jim returned to the state of Washington and spent his remaining years in the Pierce and King Co. areas. He was employed in the Glass Industry for the remainder of his life. Jim was diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer on February 15, 2009, and was given 8 months to live. With great dignity he fought this horrible disease, never complaining all through Chemo- Therapy. Jim outlived his doctors diagnosis by almost 6 months. He passed peacefully in his home on May 5, 2010 surrounded by his family. Jim is preceded in death by both his parents and his son John, along with his two grandchildren Hailey Rae and Xavier Alexander. He is survived by his brother John McGee, his son Jim McGee Jr. Daughters, Shonda McGee (Scott), Shannon Barnes (Don), and Kim Maynard (David) Grandchildren: Alicia, Justin, Stefani, Joshua, Autum, Michael, Meaghan, Jonathon, Mischa, Triniti And soon to be Great-Grandchild Zachary James Barnes. The family would like to Thank the Hospice Team (Twila, Shellie, Susan, and Ann) for being such a great source of comfort to his daughters while caring for Jim at home. Also Thank You to Diana Ferree and Father David of St. Barbara’s Parish. His prayers for the Final Annointing would not have happened without you. We welcome friends and family to join us to celebrate Jim’s life, at the home of Peggy McGee: 7568 31st Street W. University Place, WA 98466 on June 5th at 1:00 pm.
