Obituary of Lonnie Ames

Born June 5, 1945 in Eldorado, Arkansas and passed away May 2, 2009 in Tacoma, Washington surrounded by his loving family. Lonnie served honorably in the US Army from 1963 to 1983 where he retired as a Captain. He served during the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot. During his service, he received 3 bronze service stars, Bronze Star, and one Purple Heart medal. He also received 2 bachelors degrees and one masters degree. Lonnie is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Valrie (Gardener) Ames; 4 sons, Lonnie (Rosemary) Ames, John (Carrie) Ames, Marcus Ames, Monte L. Washington; 4 daughters, Bridgette Ames, Shameeca (Zhony) White, Rolona Ward, Octavia Ames; 5 siblings, Robert, Lonnette, Linda, Kenneth, Nedra; father, Lonnie Ames Sr.; numerous grandchildren extended family and friends. Viewing to be held 5-8PM Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Edwards Memorial Center, 3005 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, WA 98466. Funeral service with military honors to be held 11AM Friday May 8, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Church, 2001 S. J St., Tacoma, WA 98405.
