Obituary of Della Grindstaff

Della Grindstaff resident of Sumner WA, passed away May 16th, 2011 at the age of 95. Born in Rexburg, ID but raised mainly in Maxmenville, OR. Her father was a beet farmer Jake Kerbs and mother Katherine. Della was one of 12 children Jake, Henry, Adam, Dave, and George Kerbs, Millie Zier, Mary Briggs, Mollie Putsch, Emma Mattie, Rose McFarland, and Katie Slater all deceased. They were a military family involving Army, Air Force, & Navy which involved both the boys and girls. Della worked at Fort Lewis and was also married in the chapel there. Della was a single mom until Marrying Richard who was in the Army where they traveled and lived in Germany and France. Then moving to Conrad to be a farmer's wife East of Conrad in the Knees Community. Della had 2 children Bonnie Habets of Sumner, WA James Grindstaff who proceded her in death. She was married to Joe Flink for 4 years divorced, and then married to Richard Grindstaff for 37 years who also proceded her in death. She had 2 grandchildren Carla Pratt of Bonney Lake, WA and Garrett Habets of Cut Bank, MT. 4 great grand children and 2 step grandchildren, and one great great grandbaby due in July. Della had many ribbons from her rug making, braided in the old German style. She also was a baker winning many ribbons for her wonderful breads. Mom also taught rug making at a Jr. colleage and the Puyallup State Fair. Mom, Grandma will be missed by family and friends. See you later Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma we love you.
