Obituary of Mary Ethel Mills

Mary Ethel Mills, 70, of Toledo , passed away on July 15th, 2010, in her home of natural causes. Mary was born April 23, 1940 in Toledo , Ohio to Eliza Mae and Chester McBride. She spent her first 22 years of marriage as an army wife moving around the United States and Europe . For the last 30 years, she has made her home in the Tacoma area or Southeast Alaska . Mary has worked as a waitress, bartender, cannery worker, apartment manager and was a foster mother in Washington State as well as Alaska unselfishly giving her time and opening her home for years as a foster parent for special needs children, Mary was everyone's mother taking people under her wing and helping them as much as possible. Mary loved animals all her life and she made dogs her passion, raising and showing Chihuahuas for a good part of her adult life. She rarely lived without a pet of some sort. Before her illness slowed her down Mary would love to take drives for hours just enjoying the scenery often going to wildlife parks. Any activities that involved her family, friends and pets were number one on her list of enjoyment ,countless dogs, cats and various other creatures made it into the family home; she made pets of the neighboring wildlife including a opossum and an occasional raccoon that she loved to leave food out for. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Roy Charles Mills Sr, Tacoma , Washington , Brother Lee McBride Toledo, Ohio ; son Roy Charles Mills Jr and his wife Margie Mills, Tacoma Wa , daughter Robin Lee Mills, Napavine Wa . grandchildren Jacob Charles Mills, Onalaska Wa, Mark Howard Mills (wife Jessica Mills), Tacoma Wa, Jared Charles Mills,Wachula Fl, step-grandchildren Steven Cole Albrittion, Centralia, Wa Sheila Denice Doll, Beale AFB Ca. No service is scheduled. Donations may be made to the humane society of Tacoma or Pierce county, in Mary’s name would help her to continue to give life, hope and love to homeless pets in need.
