Obituary of Elizabeth Aguon Wiles

For everything there is a season. And as Mother Nature begins to open her arms to the tepid days of spring, so, too, did the Lord open his arms at the gates of heaven for Elizabeth Aguon Wiles. Beloved grandmother, mother and dedicated wife, Liz is survived by her granddaughter Keilana Rae Wiles Arcega, children Natasha Arcega, Nathan and Nolan Wiles, son-in-law Jay Arcega, and her devoted husband of 25 years, Brian Edward Wiles; as well as her parents Roque and Balbina Aguon. She passed away early-morning Wednesday, April 11, 2012, after a courageous 2-year battle with bile duct cancer. It is only fitting that Brian was by her side through the moment she passed on. She leaves this life at the young age of 43. Liz was born the fifth of seven children to Roque and Balbina on June 10, 1968, in Yona, Guam. The daughter of a Navy sailor, Liz spent much of her formative years in Norfolk, VA. Her marriage to Brian in 1987 brought forth the challenge of creating a home as a military wife – a challenge she gladly accepted with the same vigor and resiliency with which she would face all life’s endeavors. An extraordinarily giving and loving soul, no words can adequately express how incredible an individual Liz was. With an engaging smile and infectious laugh, she brought joy to the hearts of all who knew her. She had a superior work ethic and cherished her colleagues in the Financial Aid Department at Olympic College, at which she blessed them with nearly 15 years of her life. Fiercely loyal to the ones she loved and quick to defend all whom she held dear, Liz will be remembered for her intense will, her strength of character and her powerful love for her children, granddaughter and husband. She fought her cancer with a quiet valiancy and a stoic disposition, never alluding to the severity of her struggle. She exemplified what it means to be a heroine; admired for her courage and lauded for her determination. Elizabeth’s remains will lie in waiting at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA, until Brian passes and their souls can once again be united. She also leaves behind siblings Anita Marshall, Roque Aguon Jr., Rosalind Mack, Lourdes Deszell, Patricia Pablo and Nieves Aguon, brothers-in-law Eugene Marshall, John Mack, Robert Deszell, John Pablo Jr., and sister-in-law Laura Aguon, in addition to 18 nieces, nephews and grand-nieces/nephews.
