My mother, Johanna Bleuer Bohren worked for your family, I believe as a nanny, in the 50’s. She was fresh from Switzerland and was living with her uncle in Ventura. I was looking thru some old photos and found a Christmas card that she save with a photo and all the kid’s names. That is how I found this obituary. Mom passed in 2000. She always mentioned her time with your family.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Shirley Patterson. As a member of the Tacoma Rose Society, it was such a pleasure to know such a upbeat and positive woman. Her enthusiasm was infectious. She always seemed to be smiling; always gracious. Her rose garden at Life Manor will bring happiness for years to come. Shirley took and passed the American Rose Society's Consulting Rosarian school when she was past 80. Her zest for learning was a reflection of a life of accomplishments. We will miss this grand lady, too. Who better to tend God's garden?

Shirley was a special woman, & we knew it at the Chi Omega House at UC Santa Barbara! She had lots of energy and a great sense of humor. Being a house mother wasn't just a job to her she. She was warm and genuine and showed interest in all of us. Her energy was amazing! Whether it was roses or people, she shaped peoples lives in such a positive way. Shirley was a hero in a sense for us as well. She hung a shingle over her door on occasion and opened shop for her valuable typing service. Before the days of personal computers, she was a life saver especially to us communication majors! She will be missed, but we are so fortunate that she touched our lives.

For My Beloved Mother who had undying love for me (her son, Robert) but also for her dedication to the Lord and His Son, Jesus Christ. Mom never waivered in her belief and I know that she would want me to share a most important scripture that formed the basis of her faith. From John 3:16-18. 'For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.' Mom is being held in the arms of Jesus now and we have all been blessed by the spirit and love she gave to us all. I love you and miss you Mom and will always be grateful to you for giving your all to me and all those who were fortunate to know you. Mom, May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 I love you, Your Loving son Robert
