Obituary of Marcia Helen Fabert

Helen was born February 20, 1932 in Tangier, Indiana to Harry and Lucille Finney. She attended Tangier public schools graduating from High School in 1950. Her lifelong love of purple began with Tangier High School colors of purple and white. She was confirmed in Kingman Indiana United Methodist Church. She later attended Moody Bible Institute while also working in Chicago. Helen had found the love of her life in Kingman, Indiana when she met Marion Fabert. She married him in September 1953. The union was blessed with three children: Michael (Gwen) Fabert of Munster, Indiana; Nancy (Steve) Lawrence of Bellingham, Washington; and Kristy (Jeff) Mitchell of Gig Harbor, Washington. Helen and Marion moved their young family to Tacoma in 1966 where Marion continues to reside. When her children were nearly grown Helen began her career of daycare provider for babies which continued for 19 years, earning her the moniker of “Mommy Helen”. Eventually, she became grandmother to Benjamin Fabert of Munster, Indiana; Ann (Brad) Calvert of Lexington, Kentucky; Zachary Fabert of Munster, Indiana; Dylan (deceased); Hannah and Emma Fabert-Mitchell of Gig Harbor, Washington. Helen began Bible Study Fellowship eventually taking a leadership role for a total of 26 years. She also taught Bible studies in the Village Retirement Center. Helen was involved in Tacoma Alliance Church all her years in Tacoma, serving as Sunday School teacher, giver of children’s sermons, youth sponsor and many other areas of service. Helen was known for her love for everyone, exhibited by hospitality, enthusiastic support of others, and kind and generous words. She was still active as wife, mother, grandmother and church member when her life was stopped short by cancer. She went to be with her Savior February 3, 2011 at 11:18 pm surrounded by her family.
