Paul was born at St. Joseph’s hospital in Tacoma, WA and grew up on Tacoma’s east side attending school at Rogers elementary, Gault Jr. High and Lincoln High School, graduating in 1970, he completed his BA in Liberal Arts at the Tacoma Community College in 1972. Paul went to work for the Arsco Smelting Company and moved to North Tacoma where he married his first wife Mary Doyle, in November of 1976 his son Nicholas was born in February of 1980. Paul was an avid hiker and photographer. He loved to hike and camp with friends and family. His hikes took him to Mt. Rainer and Mt. St. Helens, many of his adventures are recorded in his photos. Family stories indicate that Paul loved to record people and conversations with a little recorder and microphone when he was a child, and photograph family gatherings. In December of 1987 Paul remarried to his second wife, Teresa Pickering and they began a new life by relocating to Puyallup, WA with Teresa’s daughter Nikki and his son Nicholas. This relocation lead Paul to find work at The Boeing company and Harland Clark, where he met many friends who he loved and cherished. In August of 2008 Paul lost his loving wife Teresa to Breast cancer after being married for 21 years. This was very rough for Paul and he was forever changed by her passing. His battle with diabetes and Sarcoidosis was very taxing on his body and in April of 2012 he ended up in the hospital for a foot injury that resulted in blood clots to form in his leg. He was released from the hospital and placed on bed rest at home. On May 12, 2012 while speaking with his step daughter and granddaughter a massive blood clot traveled to his brain causing him to collapse and stop breathing. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was placed in ICU until his passing on May 13, 2012 where he was surrounded by loving family and friends. He will join his wife Teresa, where they both will remain at eternal rest in Puyallup, WA at Woodbine Cemetery’s niche wall. Pops, we love you and miss your infectious smile. Stories of your childhood and funny little sayings. We look forward to the day when we are all together again in heaven. Rest In Peace.
