I remember the first time Marty introduced me to his mother, Anna. She gave me a big hug and warmly welcomed me into their home as well as their hearts. We had many lovely Sunday meals together at the dining room table chatting about our mutual love of flowers and birds. She slowly lost that spark over the last few years but she always looked pleased to see Eric, Marty, and me. And that strong grip of hers was present until the very end! I pray she and Fred are nestled in a heavenly white ranch with a gorgeous water view and beautiful geraniums are gracing their front porch. They deserve nothing less.

We have wonderful memories of Anna and Fred visiting our home at various times. There was a walk around Green Lake after Easter dinner. There was a walk to the town clock in what we learned later was a 98 degree day! There were delicious dinners at your home that she prepared for us. Later on, there were dinners at a Chinese restaurant that we all enjoyed. Marty and Eric, you can take comfort in knowing that you did all that you could during your parents final years.

I KNEW YOUR MOTHER VERY WELL. I LIVED IN STEILACOOM FOR 13 YEARS AND WORKED IN THE TOWN. SHE ALWAYS HAD A WONDERFUL SMILE AND A PAT ON THE HAND EVERY TIME SHE CAME INTO THE OFFICE. I CARED FOR HER VERY MUCH. I WAS SAD TO READ OF HER PASSING. MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU BOYS.

Eric & Martin Warm wishes to you and your families in the loss of Miss Anna. Not sure you will remember me but I worked at Village Green. I have the most wonderful memories of Miss Anna. Even as the Alzheimer's continued to avenge her brain she and I would talk in German. Her beautiful smile and sense of humor and love for 'Papa' and you are gifts that she shared with me, I will cherish the gifts she shared with me always.

I will miss Anna. I had the pleasure of working with her on getting Christmas gifts for kids that were in need and what a pleasure it was. She was a big part in making our community what is is today and will always be remembered in my heart.

Anna was the sparkplug of the Town of Steilacoom's engine! When I worked for the Town as a Public Safety Officer, Anna always gave me great advice on how best to serve our community. (That I had been stationed in Mannheim, and spoke a bit of German also helped my standing with Anna!) Anna, geht mit Gott, und vielen dank fur alles.

Charles and I owned Love Me Now Floral Design in Steilacoom for a number of years. Anna was a regular at the flower shop, not as a customer who was there to buy flowers, but resolutely, regularly there to seek support for the Food Bank. She was an absolute champion for the needy and under-privileged. She was a dynamo. She worked tirelessly and with a singleness of purpose, a bluntness, a frankness that no one could ignore or turn away from. She was a treasure. It is difficult to imagine that anyone will ever be able to fill her shoes. What an example of true leadership she set for others to follow! We were privileged to have met her in our lifetime.
