Obituary of Freda L. Patmore

Freda L. Patmore was born to Garret and Pearl Gunter on 02/22/30 in Balsam, North Carolina and left this earth peacefully to join Jesus on 02/20/09 with her family by her side. Mom moved to Washington State in 1950 where she married her first husband and had two children, Bill and Janet. In 1960, mom remarried to Charles (Chuck) Patmore and had two more children, Karen and Debbie. After almost a 2 year battle with cancer, Chuck passed away in 1994. Mom and dad were well known for their two huge gardens that they planted every year. We would all tease them and tell them that they planted enough vegetables to feed the entire neighborhood. One thing was for sure, mom always made sure we had plenty to eat. Mom was well known for her big blonde hair and her southern accent. It didn’t matter where mom would go, someone would always ask her what part of the south she was from. Up until her last days, mom still claimed she did not have a southern accent. Mom loved her grand-cats and was designated the babysitter when Kelly & Debbie went on vacation. Mom decided that she wanted to “kitty kidnap” Brewsky. So, Brewsky moved to a different zip code and lived with mom for the next 2 years. Mom said Brewsky was a lot of company and she wouldn’t know what she would do without her. Mom would always tell Brewsky that she was “Grammy’s Girl”. She loved that cat and even up until mom’s last days, she always asked about her. Brewsky sure does miss her Grammy. Mom is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles; brothers, Glen, Howell, & Eugene; sister Rita Mae, and son-in-law, Dennis. She is survived by her son, William (Sandra) Hooper, daughters, Janet Slavens, Karen Smith, and Debbie (Kelly) Murphy, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, sister, Geraldine Dionne, numerous nieces and nephews, and her cat, Brewsky. Mom will be missed by all that knew her. Service to be held 11AM Friday 2/27/2009 at Lakeview Chapel, 4606 108th St. SW, Lakewood, WA, interment to follow at Fir Lane Memorial Park. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center 253-566-1008. To view video tribute click on the following link below: http://videos.lifetributes.com/55795
