Betty was like a second mom to me and so many others. She was tough but fair. The Mickelson house was where you could always find a place if you just needed to hang out and have fun.

( 2nd part) I miss you so much and cry myself to sleep wishing we could have our family back the way it was years ago, you were the core of our family and you would be happy to know that your grandkids Keenan and Jaaz are staying strong and we have never been so close as a family, we hang out everyday and have so much family time together:) I am so fortunate you got to meet Kyle before you passed because he is bringing this family closer and closer everyday. I wish you could of met Olivia and Jordan:(as I do share all of our wonderful memories with them:)) We love you grandma and we appreciate all you did for us and everyone else. The boys will be writing to you as soon as I am done. R.I.P. Grandma~ You are forever in my heart...

Grandma~ I am going to speak on the behalf of Keenan, Jaaz and myself . You always have been and always will be thos most wonderful Grandmother/Great Grandmother in our book. You were the greatest cook in the world and lived to please everyone, you always made everyone feel welcome and served everyone before yourself. You always made me feel number one and were always number one in my book. You were such a perfectionist and always givibg to everyone and I promise to follow in your footseps as you have made me who I am today~ I want to thank you for never doubting me and standing by my side when I wasnt doing so great in life...... I am hurting so bad that I did not spend more time with you before God took you to his kingdom:( Please forgive me and know I had to be strong for my boys and watching you slowly die created more pain in my heart then I have ever had to experience.

September 04, 2011 Grandma Betty, You were the best grandma any grandson could ever ask for. You always cooked for us, took us places, and did all you could to keep you're family happy. You were always so loving and considerate. I'm gonna miss going to the house for christmas and easter and all the other get togethers we had. Rest In Peace Grandma, you will be missed and we all love you. ~ Keenan Nevares-Smith,

Betty was a great Lady. I grew up just down the street and Betty and Orv are my god parents. We moved away after grade school. I have very fond memories of Betty and her family and all the barbeques and get togethers we enjoyed when i was a kid in the 1960's.

My sister Wilma and I were close friends with Betty since 42. It has been 69 wonderful years of love and care as we went through the teen years. All great times as we shopped downtown, going to Grange dances, and school events. Then came the move to the work force. Both Betty and I were employed by PSBank. Betty and Orv had a lovely wedding. I can tell you how big a heart Betty had as she would leave her home and drive to Tacoma at night to help me do all night walks to comfort one of my sons. It was such a caring act which I will never forget. As time passed five longtime couples determined to keep a regular meeting. Timms, Shingledeckers, Thomas, Salters and Betty and Orv. We took turns hosting wonderful dinners and having fun card games. This continued for some 40 years and what memories we have. Betty maintained a lovely home and a special event they hosted was the 50th reunion of the class of 48. But the best for me, Wilma, Rita and Rebecca Chisum was a visit with Orv and Betty on August 12 this year. Never did we realize it would be our last visit with her. We know that God decides who and when He wishes His children to be with Him. We are left to grieve and carry forward memories of a very dear and longtime friend. To all her family - loving wishes.

So sorry for your loss of this Elegant, soft spoken, always smiling woman. I worked at the bank with Betty for many years. She was at our 'Coffee Table' and shared many conversations. Bless you all, as I know the ache of not having Mom around to ask how to make or do something. Memories, though bring smiles

I met Betty when I started hanging out with Bret in high school. Since Bret and I spent so much time together I was there at the Mickelsons all of the time. Betty always made me feel comfortable in her home. I will miss her immensely and she will be missed by many. My thoughts are with the Mickelson family.

Mickelson Family, I have so very many fond memories of your Beautiful Wife & Mother. It was a honor to grow up in our neighborhood & hanging at the super cool house & always feeling at home without a doubt was because of your wonderful Mother & her welcoming spirit. The Family has been very much missed the last few years, even though we did not spend time together as adults, there was always a feeling of security & peace knowing you all were down the road, or al least Mom & Dad were...So, I just feel it so important that you know I understand your loss, as you do ours. Both of our Family's have been through what no family should & I know that one day we will all be once again..hanging in the hood..chilling by that big pool in Heaven. My thoughts and prayers go out to each of you. With Peace & Sincerity, Joiceann Hale

I always remember Betty with a smile. I have such fond memories of Kari and I in junior high. Betty and Orville had such a welcoming home that we all wanted to 'hang out' at, and now as a mom, I strive to do the same -thank you! I feel Kari's presence with me throughout my life as an angel, I know that Betty must have had such a welcoming home with her baby girl! I pray that God will give you comfort, strength and peace.

Dear Orv, Kim, Bret and Todd and your families. Your beautiful wife, mother, and grandmother was to me a wonder woman. How she stayed up half the night cleaning house, baking, making sure your clothes were all ready for school and then put in a full day at work the next day, I'll never know. Our 50's group always look forward to our evenings at your home she cooked wonderful meals and set a beautiful table. Such fun we all had together. I'll always remember her soft voice and kindness to everyone. Her love for all her family was very evident to all of us. I will miss her so much. Love Rita
