Obituary of Emilio Phillip Llapitan

Mr. Emilio Phillip Llapitan was 70 years old at the time of his passing on 1/9/2011. Phil Llapitan was born on January 16th, 1940 in Puyallup, Washington. He is the son of Mary J. Llapitan and David A. Llapitan Sr. “Phil“ Llapitan served in the US Navy from 1957-1961, after which he worked at several federal locations, such as MCchord AFB and Fort Lewis . Phil retired after 36 years of Civil Service with the last 10 years of employment working as an Electrical Inspector with the US Corps of Engineers, Seattle district. Phil enjoyed spending time with his family and friends in the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, motorcycles, rock hounding, as well as an avid ham radio operator. He also enjoyed traveling in his motorhome. Really, he was happy everywhere and found joy in everything. Phil Llapitan's last residence was in Puyallup, Washington. Phil is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Lee Llapitan. Surviving children are sons Jeffery Llapitan and Brian Llapitan and daughter Ronna Llapitan Smith. Phil also has 4 grand children and 6 great grandchildren, he also has a brother David Llapitan and sister Elizabeth Lett and life long friend Doug Williams. Dad and I have many memories of fishing trips. We had a boat and fished all over the state but those trips to Westport were very special to me! We also shared many family outings motorcycle riding. I learned to ride a dirt bike and later a street bike by a young age. Dad was a great mechanic in those days, building bikes for a hobby and recreation. Dad was a loving father, later he was a good friend and my mentor thru life. I will miss him very much. Love always Jeff As the only daughter I have always felt like my dad and I had a very special relationship. He has always been there for me, even when I was unaware of it. Phil Llapitan, my dad, was such a great man, that I cannot even begin to explain how much he meant to me. He was everything to me. He always had a smile on his face and a heart of gold. I am thankful, proud, and honored to have had him in my life. I could not have asked for a better childhood or better parents. I love you dad, you will be in my heart forever! Love Ronna Being the youngest child, I was spoiled a lot by my Dad, who always did his best to make sure I had the experiences and things that would make me happy. My favorite memories are camping with him as a child, where we would fish, ride motorcycles, and eat hotdogs by the fire. I also enjoyed our weekly racquetball sessions with Doug, Uncle Dave and my cousin David. In my teens, I thought I knew it all, and idolized musicians of the era. It took some growing up, but I figured out that the person I idolized was my Dad, not the people I read about in magazines. I had a show to play in Seattle back in 1986, with the heavy metal band I was in at the time. Being the awesome guy he was, he rode his motorcycle to Seattle from Puyallup to watch me. He didn't tell me he was coming, he just stayed for 2 songs and left, as it was too loud for him. It meant a lot that he supported me, even when I was unaware of it. He always had a big smile for everyone, always friendly, would be willing to help you at any time, worked very hard at everything he did, and was great just to be around. I hope one day that I can end up being half the man he was. Until we meet again, love you Dad. Phil, my brother, my friend, my guardian angel, the one who put me under your wing. You made such an impact in my life. Thank you Phil for being who you are, you will never be forgotten, and will always and forever be in my heart. Until we meet again, I know you will save a place for me. I love you, Stubby As your wife of 54 years, I have enjoyed the ride (and they said it wouldn't last)! We were married so young that we grew together as we grew up. We had our kids when we were kids ourselves, but we did a really good job raising them. We both were so proud of them. I'm going to miss your smile and your wisdom very much. I will love you forever. You will be guiding me always. You will be in my heart forever. Your loving wife, Lee
