Obituary of Michael James Healy

Mike was born in Antigo, Wisconsin to James Edward Healy and Mary Eileen Hickey. He later moved to Tacoma in 1955 with his mother, grandmother and younger brother Patrick, where he lived for the rest of his life. He attended Willard Elementary, Stewart Junior High, and Lincoln High School, where he graduated from in 1967. After two years of cooking school, he worked as a cook in the restaurant business for the next 41 years. He worked at restaurants in the Tacoma area such as Honan's, Smitty's, the Harvester, Tacoma Salmon House, John's Hob Nob, Knapp's, The Hotel Bar & Grill, and the Wagon Wheel. Mike is best remembered for his love of music, whether it was listening, collecting, or going to concerts. He also loved to sing at karaoke jams in his later years, mostly at the Flying Boots Cafe. He also loved music videos, movies and various TV shows. Mike suffered cardiac arrest on November 22nd, and never regained consciousness while in the hospital. He quitely and peacefully left us on December 7th at 3 PM at Hospice House in University Place, surrounded by family. He is survived by his son Mike (Tonya) and grandson Geoffrey in Tacoma, stepdaughter Angela (David) Harris-Ginther, and cousin Karen (Gerard) Woldvedt of Friday Harbor, WA.
