Obituary of Thomas Neil Tibbetts

Thomas N. Tibbetts was born on September 27th,1957. He had been struggling with lung disease for 6 years and ended that long weary battle at Tacoma General Hospital early morning of May 2, 2009. Our hearts are hurting but we are comforted by the fact that he is now at home with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Tom started out his life as a fighter. His father called him his little stick of dynamite. Growing up the smallest of 6 children he had something to prove. Giving up was never an option. After blasting his way through childhood he decided to make his mark on the world and join the U.S. Marine Corp. He then went on to work for a variety of different places including a jewelry company, a plastic company and settled with a tire company Les Schwab. Tom’s passion was fishing and tying flies. If there was a lake, he wanted on it. Wind, Rain, Choppy Waters, it mattered not as long as he got to fish. Patient and quiet he would sit all day until he was dragged away. He lived to fish. His favorite time of the day was early morning or early evening, when he knew the fish would be topping the water. Saying he liked to fish was like saying fish liked water. Tying flies was a hobby he started when he could no longer go fishing. Thomas is survived by his wife, Lydia , son: Lawerence; daughters: Suelena Dugger , and Tristin; son and daughter in law: Jeff and Dee Scrimshaw; grandsons: Lashont Neil, Caleb, and Isiah Thomas; brothers: Harold and Danny; sisters: Linda and Judy as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and in-laws. A memorial to celebrate the life of Thomas will be held on Sunday May 10th at 1pm at the Valley Baptist Church, Sumner, Wa.
