Obituary of James Henry Smith

Beloved son of Thomas and Dolores, went to be with our Lord at the beginning of this new year. Jim was born in Tacoma, WA in the winter of 1960. He was the middle child of six, a young boy full of mischief and matchbox cars. He was the boy who fell off the top of the slide, rolled bowling balls down the street, and played baseball all summer long at the powerhouse. That playfullness carried into adulthood. He loved Halloween because it meant that he could peruse his niece’s goodie bag for the tastiest treats, Snickers. He was the “fun uncle”, the character, the jokester, the karaoke master. A loyal friend to many in the neighborhood. He loved sports, mainly football, and played for Bellarmine Prep until he was injured and could not return. He would spend many Sunday afternoons with his dad cheering on their favorite teams and talking politics. When he wasn’t watching games he would be passing the football in the street to his brothers and nephews. He had an infectious laugh and you could not help but laugh along with him. He was always smiling and tried not let the trials of this life get him down. We will miss him greatly. Jim is survived by his sister Michelle (Mickey) Wright, brothers Richard, Robert, David and Michael Brother in law Steven Wright, sister in laws Margaret Otis, Maria Smith, Isabel Smith and Gaylene Smith Nephews: Joseph Leeds, Christopher Wright, Justin, Ryan and Thomas Smith Nieces: Sandra Wright, Jennifer and Rachael Smith Numerous great nieces and nephews Memorial Service to be held Saturday 1/21/12 at 3:30.
