Obituary of Earl Wells

Earl Wells, age 87, passed away at home on April 14, 2010. He is the son of Arthur Herbert Wells and Armorel Viola Hood, and one of 12 brothers and sisters. He was born on November 1, 1923 in Peerless, Utah. He moved to northern California during the depression with his family. He lived and was educated there until he moved his own family to Spokane Washington. He moved to the Tacoma/Lakewood area 25 years ago, and worked in the area for about 15 of those years. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1942, and spent the next three years serving in various parts of the United States and Okinawa as an Aviation Electrician’s Mate. During his lifetime he was a Quality Control Inspector for Westinghouse and a Road Crew Leader in various construction inspections jobs. He was proud of designing and building his family a home in Sonoma, California, and considered himself a family Farmer as well. For most of his life he loved woodworking and taught many of his children and grandchildren. In 1944 he married Gwendolyn Edith Dutson. Together they had six children. One son and one daughter preceded him in death. Gwen and Earl were married for nearly 66 years and claim 105 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children Linda Douglas (Colin), John Leland Wells (Noel), (Edward Bartnowski), (Donna Hansen), Daniel James Wells (Susan), and Andrew Jay Wells (Gayle). He is interred at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Covington, Washington.
