Obituary of Mary Cecilia Winscot

Mary C. (Krause) Winscot was born Jan 10, 1940 in Ketchikan, Alaska. She loved to knit and crochet and was talented like her mother in crocheting. Mary liked to read nonfiction and almost anything except romance novels. She was a long time member of both the Pioneers of Alaska and the Degree of Pocahontas. She was born and raised in Alaska, so were her children. Four of her five grand children were also born in Alaska. One grandchild was born in Portland, Oregon. Her two great grandchildren were born in Florida. Mary spent a lot of time doing genealogy research with her husband Doug. Most of their last vacations were spent traveling and looking for or visiting relatives. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Norbert S. Krause and Mildred (Gilmore) Krause and by her brother N. Steven Krause. Mary is survived by all of her children, Jack M. Smith, Marla (Smith) Galvin and Joseph H. Winscot. Mary is also survived by husband Douglas H. Winscot, five grandchildren, Angela (Smith) Gortney, Matthew Winscot, Erica Winscot, Steven Galvin and Nicole Smith, and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Austin Gortney.
