Obituary of Marie Dorothy Miller

Marie Miller, passed peacefully in her home April 3rd 2011 in Spanaway, Washington. Marie was born August 14th 1939 in Bigham Canyon, Utah, to Doro and Helen Gonzales. She lived in Colorado for most of her life. Marie’s first job was at a Drug Store Soda Fountain in Greely Co. She married Marty Valencia in Feb 1956. In the 70s Marie remarried Allan Miller. Marie enjoyed ceramics, story telling (to her children and grandchildren), painting, fishing, camping, hunting and she loved long road trips and traveling around the Uniteds States. For years she served with the American Legion Women’s Auxillary Board as Vice President and Treasurer. She went to Cosmotology school when she was in her 20's and again when she was in her early 40's. One of her greatest passions was cutting hair and giving friends and family permanents. For a time, Marie drove a bus for the city of Denver. She also worked in Buckeye driving farm equipment. Marie moved to Washington state where she volunteered at Community Action. Marie had a deep faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. A devoted & loving Mother and Grandma to her family – we will hold her on our hearts forever. Marie is survived by her three sons Marty Valencia of Denver, CO, Michael Valencia of Denver, CO, Monico Valencia of Arlington, WA, and Daughters Lodia Valencia of Denver, CO, Patricia Beck of Spanaway, WA, Sandy Gotts of Arlington, WA, Mary Anne Whittle of Rapid City, SD along with her twelve wonderful grandchildren. Marie is also survived by her Mother ~ Helen Gonzales of Denver, CO, her Siblings ~ Armond Gonzales, Gilbert Gonzales, Philip Gonzales, Cathy Cordova, Ernie Gonzales & Caroline Hurtado. As well as aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Celebration of Life for Marie Miller will be: May 7th from 11am to 2:30 pm @ the Tapestry House 3212 North Overland Trail Laporte, Colorado
