Dad...It has been just over a month since you died. I don't like to say 'passed' because I think of Monopoly and 'passing go' and also I think of tests...ya know, like 'congrats you passed!' I swear I hear you talking to me...but just when things are funny...you are soooo funny. I am so blessed that we could spend so much time together going to all of your chemo and radiation appointments. You were always upbeat and positive through it all! I was always so proud and honored to escort you to all of your appointments...those were the best times of our life...bittersweet. I know you felt the same way about me. When we left your appointments I know we both sensed that we would be missed. I will always be proud to be your daughter, I will always be proud to be like you. I will never forget our trips and conversations that could only be shared by us. I will never forget what John said to me when you were sick...'Sweetie, he is a special man...I have never met anyone like him' I wished you could have lived longer for MANY MANY MANY reasons, but especially for Autumn, she LOVED, LOVED, LOVED her Grandpa, and I know you LOVED, LOVED, LOVED her too! Thank you for always dropping off food to my family...cake on fridays, chicken on mondays, farmer george hotdogs, soup, donuts...ECT. I can't wait to see you in heaven and kiss your beautiful, soft lips!!!! LOVE, PINK

Ernie was always so welcoming. His smile could relax even the most timid 4th grader. Knowing he will not suffer anymore couldn't help with the immediate pain of his loss but I hope that over time the family can focus on the joys and laughter that always filled the house as a child and the more recent birthday party celebrations for the grand kids.

Joey my heart goes out to you and your children, I have been there as you kow and it is never easy but I say to you 'Keep the Faith' There are so many memories of Ernie, I could probably relate stories for hours about the four of us raising our families in Port Orchard. He will be missed but he is in a better place. I am sorry to miss his memorial but we will be away and then we will be returning to AZ for the winter. Love to you and yours!

As a kid growing up I'll alway remenber how big his hands where, his huge laugh and his interests in good food. He will be remembered for these things always. A quick story: At one of the many family gatherings we used to have, Uncle Ernie and I were laughing at how long it took him to drive to Oregon. He in turn was bewildered at how quick it took others. So without telling me what took so long he motioned for me to follow him over to their car as if what he was going to show me would explain it all. What he showed me was pickled eggs, all beef Franks and beer all iced down in the back of the car. He was schooling me in the importance of the use of many culinary and thirst quinching pit stops in his travels. Something that could add hours onto any road trip, but a travel requirement non the less. Going 70 MPH from point A to point B was not an option for Uncle Ernie. Snacks are now a travel tradition for our trips. Thanks Uncle!!!
