Obituary of Heinz Werner Teichert

Werner was born in Thalheim, Germany, as the first born of his parents, Richard and Johanne Teichert. At the age of 3 he and his family emigrated to Canada where he grew up with his two sisters, Yutta and Margot, who still reside in London, Ontario, Canada. Werner attended the University of Western Ontario where, for the first time in the college's history, he earned double gold medals in Math and Physics. Werner is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marian, and four children: Ric, Lisa, Kristyn and Peter. This family of six moved to The States, as Canadians fondly refer to the U.S., in 1958, where Werner pursued a career in life insurance. He ended his working days as an executive with Munich American Reassurance Co. in Atlanta, Georgia. In his younger years, Werner was an avid golfer and crossword puzzler. He always enjoyed a good book, was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Falcons and Braves, and made it a point to take his family to Canada on a regular basis. He had every kind of tool known to man in his basement and knew how to use most of them. He was a wonderful dancer and he and Marian enjoyed attending classical music concerts, as well as the odd raucous Oktoberfest full of happy-go-lucky polka music and the swigging of beer. He loved a good laugh. It was so much fun to put the first two "Home Alone" movies on at Christmas and watch he and his son-in-law, Larry, laugh at the antics. They were more entertaining than the movie! We have many wonderful memories of fun-filled visits to our home in Canada and the love and warmth of our relatives. This is the stock Werner came from and it showed his entire life. He was a kind, tenderhearted, and funny man with a German backbone and strength. It was this very strength that served him well in his fight against Alzheimer's Disease. He will always be loved and missed and our hearts will hold him close. There will be a family service in Canada. Should anyone care to make a memorial donation, please make it to the Alzheimer's Association. Thank you.
