Good memories of grandpa: A memory of grandpa was when we were playing basketball and grandpa made a hook-shot from 20feet away! When grandpa taught me how to play the guitar, then I got intrested in my small guitar. When we started to go to church every Sunday to learn how God made everything better. When grandpa helped us get baptized it felt really nice. When grandpa talked and tought to us about the Gospel and the Book of Mormon I now know more about life. He also told us that we should not sneak, cheat, lie or steal. He would make us do pushups and jumping jacks outside. He touhgt us all his jokes and sayings. He also played all kinds of sports with me. Love forever, Joseph Mc Phie

Memories and His Teachings: went bowling with him and he tought me how to bowl and so I followed his steps and I made a strike. He tought me jokes and saigns for example: As you ramble on through life brother what ever be your goal 'keep your eye upon the donut and not upon the hole'.- '1% of something is better than a 100% of nothing' and what do you get when you cross and owl with a skunk? an owl that stinks but doesn't give a hoot. We played basket-ball together and one time he made a hook shot from 20 feet away. He tought us about the Book of Mormon. He tought us about the different levels of heaven He tought me how you should be sealed to your family for time and eternity not just time till you part. I remembered the time when we listened to the songs he recorded playing his guitar and singing. He tought me the notes on the guitar. He tought me how to fold clothes and how to iron them. I remember the taste of his lemonade he made. He tought me how drink the acid after the other things. He also tought me how to rinse the dishes. Theres way more memories of him but it would take too long to type all of them. Love you always grandpa. Shanelle

The things I remember of Daniel is that he always tried to have a good attitude. He was 'Dan the man with the new plan.' I even learned from him at the end that he really just wanted to make things right. Now that he's not with us he also taught me how important are loved one's are and we need to try to be together.

One memory I have of Dan is how proud he always was of his wife Chavella. When he first introduced her to me years ago shortly after they were married, he was just beaming. He said to me, Shes really beautiful, isnt she? And shes not only beautiful, shes also very talented! I know his love for Chavella lives on. I will always remember Dans contagious laugh. Whenever I heard him laugh, it made me laugh, too. Fortunately, Ive noticed that his two sons, Joe and Carlos, have both inherited this same laugh. Whenever I hear them laugh in the future, I will always think of Dan. Dan also had eyes of compassion and concern. I see these same caring eyes in his daughter Michelle, and I know she will continue to look out for the needs of others as he did. When I came to be with Dans family for the funeral, I could see how the Atonement of Christ had healed all of their hearts. There was such a sweet spirit in their home, and I know it was because Jesus Christ had helped the whole family to willingly forgive and learn to love once again. I am grateful for Dans testimony of the Book of Mormon and his gratitude for coming to know the Savior in his life. Although Dans spirit has now passed on, his influence will continue to be felt through the legacy of love and faith that he has left behind for his family.

Dan is a cousin to my husband, David Litster. When Dan was living in Boise he would often come to our home to visit. He was lots of fun and full of energy. When my children started to play the guitar they broke a string. It was out of my 'comfort zone' at the time and Danny came to the rescue and replaced the string for us. It was a small thing but it meant a lot to me. Danny was very kind and complimentary to me and would brighten my days. He had a knowledge and testimony and love of the gospel of Jesus Christ and would often have gospel discussions with us. We loved it when Danny would play the guitar for us.

Dear Chavela, Carlos, Joe, Michelle and families. Ralph and I send our deepest love at this time. We were so sorry that we could not be with you today to pay our last respects to Danny. We hope that our last letter sent to Danny a couple of days before he passed away got to you - too late for him, but hope the rest of you will enjoy it. Let me know if you don't get it and I'll resend it. In it I expressed many things I am grateful to Danny for. We are so happy he brought all of you into our lives. We love you all! May our loving Heavenly Father continue to bless you.

My memory of Dan comes from when I was in college and living with my Uncle Bill (Litster) in 2003 and Dan was staying there for a short time as well. He found out that I loved real, authentic Mexican food and offered to make my favorite Mexican dish for me and my fiancee (at the time), now husband, Scott. I told him it was chiles rellenos and he asked us if we liked spicy food and we said that we did . . . come to find out, our interpretation of spicy was very gringo compared to his! He spent all day cooking them and they smelled SOOOO good - we were so excited for dinner all day! I didn't notice this as he was preparing them, but I think he left ALL of the seeds in the chiles and also added more spices to the filling . . . with one bite we felt our throats on fire! Sadly, we were physically unable to eat them (or we would've ignited internal bonfires) so we just tried to pick them apart and eat as much as we could. I know it takes a lot to make that dish and I always appreciated him for doing it. Dan was always so generous and was always up for a song on his guitar or a thought-provoking conversation, of which we had many during the time we both spent at Bill's.

Dear Chavella and Family, I've always so respected Dan's sincerity and friendliness towards me. He was always kind to me and our family -- especially to my son Jonathan (as you all have been) in a very special way and I will always love him and each of you for it. Please know you've all been in my prayers at this time of his passing. Dan's spirit lives on today and we will see him again in the glorious resurrection that will come. May our Heavenly Father bless each of you in a very special and loving way at this time is my prayer. I'm so grateful Kristine could be in Tacoma with you at this time. Love, David Fales

Dear Chavella and family The picture of Danny in uniform is beautiful. He loved his family, God and country. He was unafraid to bear witness of the truth and to encourage others to do right and to become the best. I know his family on the other side greet him with loving arms. --Love, Laurie Frost
