Dear Matt's family, The news of Matt's passing just came my way this week. I am so sorry! Mike, Matt, and Mary all have special places in my memories of my time teaching at Pope. Kathy, I wish I could give you a BIG hug. I remember when you would come to my house and give me your PROUD mother up-dates of Matt's football experiences. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Jane Murray

I just moved back from Seattle and found out about this in the most mundane way...driving down Meridian towards Graham, on a tattoo shop reader board. I went home and dug up our graduation pictures just to see that smile. I haven't seen Matt since New Years Eve of 2001, but it was still a shock. We are far too young to be losing our friends. I am terribly sorry for your loss. For everyone's loss, no matter how close the relationship.

Dear Lingley Family...you don't know me but we have the same thing in common...we have lost our sons recently and unexpectedly...so I know how you are feeling. Your son Matt is a very handsome young man and I know you will miss him terribly. My son (Dayne Cutler)was killed in a car accident on 8/21 at the age of 18. He loved to play football too when he was younger but decided Lacrosse was more his sport the last couple of years. The only comfort I can find right now is knowing he is with the Lord Jesus and my dad (Duane Torgerson) whom I lost this past November to cancer and that I will see them both again one day. God Bless you and your family and I will say a prayer for you everytime I see your son's face when I go onto this website to check my guestbook Letitia

I knew Matt because he was one of my sons best friends (Joshua Hyneman). All through junior high and high school, football, ect ect. Matt was like a son to me, I cannot express the loss I feel, I can't even imagine the pain and sadness Kathy and Mike are going thru. None of this is right to me, I do not understand. My thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Matts entire family. I will never forget Matts huge grin, and his love for life. People say things happen for a reason, and although I am trying to trust in God that this all has some in-depth meaning, I have yet to figure out what it could possibly be. I was fortunate to be able to attend Matts celebration for life, and I was amazed, but not at all surprized, at how many people's lives Matt touched in one way or another. During this time of loss and sadness, I'd like to remind everyone to tell your children you love them EVERY day, no matter how old they are. Give your loved ones many hugs, you never know when you might not be able to see them again. And for all the young people, including my son...tell your parents and loved ones you love them too everyday, call them, keep in touch. Death is a tragedy that none of us have control of.

Hello Matt, do you know that I miss you? Do you know how much I miss your smile, your never ending energy? I miss when you used to visit me at Albertsons; you would pick me off my feet with the biggest hug! I was always so happy to see you; you always brightened my day. I remember when I first came to Stahl, alone and knowing no one. Matt, you were the first one to speak up and ask who I was. You were the one to ease my worries and fears. It was that wonderful smile and attitude that Ill never forget. From there, we went to Rogers and our friendship didnt change. Do you remember health class? Matt, you could just sit there and provoke me until I finally turned around and snapped at you. You would smile and all would be forgotten. Dont forget those times you would come out of nowhere and spook me. But you never did drop me; you always landed me safely on my heels. I look back on everything now, and I dont want to forget any of these memories. Matt, I cannot fathom you gone. Please promise me that one day, no matter how long, youll show me that smile, youll give me that hug. Kathy, I cant fully express how sorry I am. Please know you are all in my thoughts.Matt, I cannot say it enough; I will miss you so much! A hui hou!
