Obituary of Edward Martin Miller

Retired Sgt. 1st Class, Edward M. Miller, (U.S. Army) was born in Muncie, Kansas on 9/21/28 and passed away 1/9/12 at the American Lake VA Hospice Center in Lakewood, Washington. He served with distinction in WWII, Korea, and 2 tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the silver star for his heroic action and devotion to duty in Korea, advancing into enemy territory and destroying a concealed machine gun that had his unit pinned down, allowing the evacuation of the wounded and safe passage for his comrades. After his retirement he spent many years raising and training Appaloosa horses in both Washington and Oregon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his wife Barbara, his four children, Kathie (Don) Pelley, Linda Olsen, James (Lauri) Miller, Patricia Miller, two step-children, Mike and Debbie, nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Erik, Kody, Kenny, Jacob, Jeremy, Lani, Jason and Casy Jo, two & 3/4 great granddaughters, Kyley, Jordan and soon to arrive, Ava, sister Donna, brother George (Vicki), numerous nieces and nephews and his dog Willow. He is pre-deceased by his parents Aquilla and Lucille Miller, His brothers Jimmie and Virgil, Charles, his nephew James and his grandson Justin. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His family would like to thank the staff at the VA Hospice center at American Lake for their loving and devoted care. Please make donations to a veterans organization of your choice. Inurnment service will be held 9:15AM Friday, January 13, 2012 at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA 98042.
