Obituary of Henry Talmadge Dean

Henry Talmadge Dean was born July 4, 1955 in Washington D.C. and passed away on March 2, 2010 at Charlton Place in Tacoma, Washington after several years of fighting severe illnesses. Henry was preceded in death by his Father Rev. H Talmadge Dean in 1992, his Mother Ruth J. Dean in 2000 and his wife Cindy L. Dean in 2008. He is survived by a sister Paula Settles in Washington D.C., daughter LaTonya 30 in California and 3 sons, Franklin 25, Micheal 20, and Nicholas 16, Mother-in-law Janet Bates, Father-in-law Frank Bates, 3 granddaughters and several sister and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Dean, as known by his friends and family, had been retired due to illness since 2004. Prior to his retirement, he was a General Manager for Sheri's restaurant in Olympia Square for 5 Years. Prior to that, he managed a Denny's Restaurant and Banquet Departments for several hotels. He was always well respected by his employees and customers. Dean was a very devoted family man and felt his main responsibility was to provide for his family. His wife and children were the purpose of his life. If asked what his favorite thing was you would have to say fried chicken. He loved fried chicken! If he couldn't cook his own, Kentucky Fried Chicken was next. He had a chicken cook off with the administrator of The Charlton Place, of course he won hands down. Chris said he kept telling her you are turning your chicken too much. You must listen to the grease and when it is just right you turn it one time. I don't know what that sound was but it worked. He cooked the best fried chicken this family has ever eaten. He will continue to be celebrated every year for as a child he believed the fireworks on the 4th of July, his birthday, were just for him and he kept this tradition by telling his children this was why they had fireworks to celebrate daddy's birthday, which they believed for many years. We will miss him, but his pain and loneliness are gone.
