Obituary of Roger Vincent Enfield

On the first day of October 2010, Roger Vincent Enfield (85) completed the final chapter of his greatest story. With his beloved wife Rosemary and his loving family by his side, Roger was welcomed into heaven as the road rose to meet him and the wind was at his back. Roger was a carpenter who built people’s dreams, but his greatest accomplishment was his marriage and family. He loved his wife dearly and found endless joy in the family they built over their 63 years together. Roger is survived by his loving wife Rosemary and his 12 children: Don, Dick (Marcia), Kathy (Brian), Elaine (Rick), Roger (Sharon), Mark (Lila), John, Paul (Pamela) Linda (Mark), Tim (Starlene), Sherrill (Mark), and Jenny (Jim). He was also very proud of his 27 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson Ryan. This family was the pride of Roger’s life. He was the second of six children to Joseph and Evangeline Enfield, with brothers Jerry (Rita), Chuck (Jan), Clyde (Annette), James (deceased) and sister Carolyn. Roger Enfield was born and raised in Minnesota. He moved with his family to Tacoma in his early teens and attended Puyallup High School. He went into the Army at 17 and served our country during WWII, fighting with the 1st Army in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he continued his high school education, graduating from Lincoln in 1946. He worked as a carpenter for 10 years before forming his own company, Roger V. Enfield Construction, where he built homes for close to 50 years. A service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 8th at St. Frances Cabrini Church with reception to follow. All friends and family are welcome to come and celebrate Roger’s life.
