Dearest Suzanne. For me you were the Memory Keeper, but there are things I remember as well: I remember looking up to you as we were growing up. You were such an adventurer! You shared your friends and your time with me. As we established families and lived across the country from each other you always made special efforts to visit so that our families would know each other. I will remember the wonderful times we had when you finally returned to your roots in the Northwest. The countless road trips we took, both near and far, revisiting childhood haunts and exploring new places will stay in my memory. I will remember the fierce and enduring love you had for your boys and the grandchildren that came from them. I will remember the passion you had for gardening and the extraordinary results you had with the plants you nurtured. But most of all I will remember how you lived, not how you died. Thank you for these and so many more good memories. Your sister, Nancy.

Dear Steve, boys and families, I have so many good memories of Suz,as a loving Mom, wife, cook, teacher, traveler, friend, and gardener. Because Bob and Steve were buddies, it was just a given that Suz and I would become friends. I remember Suz as a gal full of passions and each year as we would get together for a weekend reunion,I'd learn about another passion. My pergola was inspired by Suz and her garden and will always remind me of her and her smile as I enjoy it. With love and fond memories Barb Mack

Thank you, Suzanne, for being a good friend. Thank you for caring, and for sharing your life, both the joys and the sorrows. Thank you for sharing your deep love of family and for cherished memories of warm summers, family reunions and home cooked meals. Thank you for keeping in touch, the visits, the long telephone conversations, the updates on family, the reminiscences. Suzanne, you will be missed. Your brother, Jim.

Dear Steve and Family, You have my deepest sympathy at the loss of Suzanne. Though I never had the privilege of knowing her, I do know from CK and Monica what a loving person she was. Love does not end at the grave. Death can only take the physical presence of a loved one from us. Suzanne's spirit lives on with you and the family and she always will as you share the wonderful memories of the happy times you have had together. Quiet awhile ago I read a wonderful sentiment that I have never forgotten. Memories are like For-Get-Me-Nots gathered along life's way. They are put into bouquets, and pressed to the heart forever. May all of your bouquets of For-Get-Me-Nots console you at this sad time and may they remain with you forever.

I met Suzanne in 1967 in Heidelberg, Germany. Suzanne had a teaching job & I was working on a 2 year work assignment my company had with the U.S. Army. I was dating Brian, a close Army buddy of Steve's, & Steve was dating Suzanne. When I met Suzanne we immediately liked each other. She was friendly, full of life, intelligent & had a good sense of humor. She was the kind of person you could trust to share your thoughts & aspirations with which was very important since family was far away. This was an exciting time in both our lives. We were both in our mid-20's, living & working in a foreign country, making new friends, developing romantic relationships & traveling around Europe. The four of us truly enjoyed each other's company & we shared many happy experiences. I remember our many interesting, spirited discussions & the easy comfort we felt in each other's presence. Those 2 years in Heidelberg were very happy years & these dear friends will always have a special place in my heart. Since Heidelberg, we have always managed to keep in touch & keep up with the changes in our lives even though distance has always separated us. I know Brian would have written his fond memories of Suzanne but sadly he has also passed on. I will always remember Suzanne as a loving, caring friend. I will miss her. My love to Steve, Eric, Bill & Steve, Edith

Suzanne once gave me a poem that I have always saved. 'Isn't it strange some people make you feel so tired inside. Your thoughts begin to shrivel up like leaves all brown and dried. But when you're with some other ones, it's stranger still to find, your thoughts as thick as fireflies all shiny in your mind.' Suzanne made you feel important and loved whenever you were around her. I will miss her smile, her warmth, and her passion for teaching and for life. She was a real friend. Our love and sympathy to Steve, Eric, Bill and Steve. Cynthia and Charlie Jefko

Steve and family. Words will never suffice for someone's life, so I will just say that I am proud that I knew Suzanne. She was bright, funny and very deep in her convictions about education. The times I saw her through her battle, she always showed her strength and optimism. I know something of what it is about to loose a loved one and only wish to tell you that it gets 'different' which I think has more solace than getting better. You will remember the good times and the funny things you shared with Suzanne. Some days will be a challenge for you and tears will be many. This is the healing process. You all will have a piece of her in your heart forever. Much love to you Steve, and if you need anything please call me. Janet

Dear Steve, Eric, Bill, Steve and your lovely wives and sweet children, I was so sad to hear of Suzanne's illness earlier this year, but it was no surprise that she was going full steam ahead in her fight to beat it. I have so many wonderful memories of Suzanne and all of you. She was such a strong, positive woman...her smile that filled her face, her laugh that filled the room, her love that filled every heart that came near her. You couldn't help but love her and she loved all of us so much. What an incredible, beautiful woman she was. I'm sure she is up in heaven directing God about the correct arrangement of the flowers in the gardens in heaven. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you...I wish I could do more. May you smile through your tears as you share your favorite cherished memories and may God hold you close and give you comfort and peace when the sadness is too great. Much love, Laura

Steve, Marty and I are deeply sorry for your loss. Although we did not know Suzanne well, we know she was a wonderful and loving wife and mother. We were told she suffered immensely during her illness but know she must be in a better and painless place now. May God bless you and your family and we look forward to seeing more of you in the near future.
