Obituary of Janice Marie Bonney

The eldest of four siblings, Janice was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 25, 1942 to James and Eileen Herrell. Her father passed away young, and her brother Billy died at the age of 8 in an accident. Her mother followed in 1971; her sister and brother survive her. She attended school in Cook County, eventually becoming a registered nurse. She continued this occupation as both an emergency room nurse and a long-term care nurse for over 40 years before retiring in 2004. She also lived in Michigan and California before moving to the Seattle area, eventually settling in Kirkland. A 35-year Kirkland resident, Janice spent her retirement years living in Lynnwood with her two cats. Janice was a lifelong avid reader. Her book collection can populate a small library, and she used the knowledge she attained through reading to fuel another passion: crossword puzzles. After retirement, she also took up painting and drawing. Her humor and intelligence were hallmarks of her personality. She passed these traits on to her two sons and one daughter, who in turn passed this on to Janice’s three grandchildren. Janice was also an animal lover. She had many cats and several dogs during her lifetime, all of which she doted on. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Janice is survived by a 21-year-old tortoiseshell cat.
