Obituary of Lorraine Deanna Roberts

Lorraine Deanna Roberts passed away peacefully, surrounded by her daughters, at home in Tacoma, Washington on April 11, 2011 after a two year battle with cancer. She was born in Aliquippa, PA on December 10, 1945 to her adored mother, Augusta Mae Todd Mingo. Lorraine is survived by her devoted children: Thomas L. Willis of Germany, Lynette Roberts Crumity, Lydia Roberts Valentine, and Laurice Aileen Roberts, all of Tacoma; Logan Kendall Roberts, and Lucien Amar Roberts, both of Aliquippa, Ebony Perez of Florida, and Na’Ima Perkins of Missouri; adored sister, Michelle Worthy, and sisters-in-law, Cheryl “Punkin” Golden, Allie Mae Saunders, Jamie Worthy, and Melinda Worthy; brothers, George Walser, Brian Worthy, Russell Worthy, and Lamont Worthy; son-in-law, John E. Valentine; daughter-in-law, Beate Willis; grandchildren, Jordan Lamar, Noah Michael, & Ethan Darnell Crumity, Kaia Lorraine & Kalia Marie Roberts Valentine, Jacqueline, Aniya, & Julie Tucker, Autumn Rose Roberts, Aset Brown & Tiran West, and Daniel, Thomas, Teresa, & Eric Willis; and beloved friends, Minnie Johnson, Shirley Collins, Elizabeth Jordan, Jacqueline and Robert Perkins, Dorothy and Michelle Tucker, Missy Mineard, Melissa Starmer, Alex Koerger, Jenise Petrich, Jared, Mary, and Stella Capouya, Marta Cady, Andala Wagner, and Tandi Rogers Koerger. In addition, Lorraine had a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and was blessed in having an amazing care team through her illness, including nurses Arsenia, Barb, Beth, Deana, Jayleen, Josh, Kat, Kris, Lydia, Maiken, Mary Anne, Megan, Roland, and doctors John Rieke, Mike Johnson, and Daniel Moore. Lorraine was an avid reader who instilled this love in her children; she enjoyed music and dancing, and had recently taken up knitting. She never let the trials of her illness stop her, and spent her last day out knitting and connecting with friends and fellow fighters at the Breast Cancer Resource Center in Tacoma. She brightened all of the lives she touched. She was amazingly strong and resilient, and deeply committed to her family and her faith. She was preceded in death by her cherished grandparents, Thomas and Annabelle Mingo, her dear mother, Augusta Mae, her husband and the love of her life, Lamar Roberts, and loved aunt, Nina Lou Johnson. There will be a service at the Charles Wright Academy Chapel in University Place, WA on Friday, April 15 at 6:00 p.m., which will be followed by light refreshments. We would like donations to be made to the Breast Cancer Resource Center in Tacoma. Their website (web.bcrcwa.org/online-donation) allows you to donate securely online or you can mail donations.
