Obituary of Leo Bernard Klein

Born 5/24/1931 in New Albany, Indiana to Ethel Kist and Leo M. Klein. Leo passed away 5/21/2012 in Tacoma, WA. Leo was raised in Jefferson, and New Albany, Indiana by his mother Ethel Kist. Leo graduated high school from New Albany High School in New Albany, Indiana in 1948. Upon graduation, Leo joined the USAF. Leo met the love of his life Barbara and it was love at first sight. They married in 1952 in Yuma, Arizona. Leo honorably retired from the USAF in 1976 in Tacoma, WA. He became a Realtor and found the perfect home for his family in which his wife Barbara resides. Leo then decided to go back to school at Tacoma Community College in Tacoma, WA. and get his Associates in Arts and Science. He then attended Bates Technical College to go on and complete the Dental Lab Technician course. He became a Mail Carrier for eight years until he retired for good per his daughter Jennifer's request to camp and see what the world had to offer. Leo had many activities he enjoyed. Camping, Motorcycles and snow mobiles to name a few. He was the best husband, father, friend, provider and musician a family could ask for. Leo is survived by his loving wife Barbara of 60 years; Son Gordon (Cindy) Klein; Daughters Kelly (Mohommad) Saatchi; and Jennifer (Sean) Lloyd; all of Tacoma, WA. 6 grandchildren LaPreal (Bill) Bauer; Alicia (John) Warch; Afsheen Saatchi; Bejan Saatchi; Amanda Klein and Alexander Petersen. 3 Great grandchildren, Monica Bauer; Kenny Ramsey and Patrick Warch all of Dillingham, Alaska. Leo and his various bands in 46 years of playing music volunteered at the American Lake V.A Hospital, Tacoma Elks Club and Afifi Shriners just to name a few. Leo's band provided music on countless occasions for others to enjoy. Our family would like to thank the staff at the American Lake V.A. Hospital for the (love) and excellent care they provided to Leo. Memorial Services will be held in August as his grandson's are deployed in the USAF in which he honorably served 26 years. Donations can be made to your local school music department. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial 253-566-1008.
