Obituary of Dorothy Lorraine Samuelson

DOROTHY “LORAINE” SAMUELSON D. (Dorothy) “Loraine” Sjoberg Samuelson, born July 8, 1938 in Lindsborg, Kansas went to live with Jesus on October 21, 2009 from University Place, Washington. She is survived by 2 children, Scott Samuelson of Richland, WA and Kristi Samuelson of Olympia, WA; one sister, Fran Narramore, Wichita, KS; and 3 grandchildren, Bethany Samuelson, Seavonne and Dustin. Loraine enjoyed her Swedish ancestry and living in Lindsborg, Kansas her first 20 years. She married Clarence L. “Sam” Samuelson in 1959 and they lived and raised their family in Texas, Idaho, and Washington. Loraine’s last year was happily spent making new friends as a resident of Patriot’s Landing in Dupont, Washington. Loraine completed Brown Mackie Business College and worked for several companies as an accountant. Her interests included, baking cut-up cakes birthday cakes for her children in their early years, traveling, crocheting, playing Scrabble, creating photo albums, reading, biking with her sisters, spoiling her grandchildren, and attending concerts and theatre. Loraine was known for her joy in baking homemade bread for others. She was active in her church in the altar guild, choir, as coordinator of the prayer chain. Loraine was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and so enjoyed the many activities and friends through membership in Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Preceptor Delta Alpha chapter. Her presence will be missed by many. Services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 8602 Bridgeport Way S.W., Lakewood, WA, 11:00 a.m. , Saturday, October 24, 2009. Her family requests that memorials be sent to Franciscan Hospice House, 2901 Bridgeport Way West, University Place, WA 98466.
