Shauna Huddle

Obituary of Shauna Jo Huddle

Shauna Jo (Keenon) Huddle Shauna was born in Hillsboro, Oregon to Dorothy and Harold Keenon. She married Fred Huddle on September 11, 1971 and had one daughter, Kristina, in 1975. She and Fred divorced in 2009. As a child, Shauna was a majorette and did vaudeville type dancing both with her sisters and individually. One of the numbers that she remembered fondly was “Little White Duck”. As she grew up she raised all sorts of animals from guinea pigs and rabbits to piglets and chickens. In High School and during her early twenties, she was heavily involved in the theatre. She was a jackalyn of all trades. She did lighting to acting. One of her most memorable roles was as Witch Lady in the Wizard of Oz. This was one of her favorite plays, movies, and books. The theatre is also where she met her husband Fred. During Fred’s Army career, they lived in Okinawa, Germany, and Tokyo (not to mention all over the U.S.). She taught herself how to decorate cakes while on Okinawa, perfected her German in Germany, and taught English as a Foreign Language in Tokyo. While in Tokyo she also learned the basics of ikebana style flower arranging. This piqued her interest in floral design and when the family moved to California, she became a floral designer. All of these experiences led up to her becoming a wedding coordinator who could do the flowers, cake, and other specifics. This was a step or two away from her dream of owning/operating a coffee shop (“Nice Coffee, Etc.”) but was still a pleasure for this multi-talented, self-taught woman. As she retired she became more involved with her church. She became a member of the Care Team, a quilter, helped find greeters for service, and even co-chaired the boutique committee. But her passion at church was quilting. She loved the fellowship she found there, the mission of the quilts, and the busy-ness of her hands. She had an eye for picking out fabrics to go together. And especially liked taking on “difficult fabrics”. Her creative eye, her gentle heart, and her simple way of going about things will be sorely missed by all that knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter Kristina Alayne Beedle and Shauna’s sisters: Peggy (& Bob) McCuen, Nancy (& Cordell) Piper, and Susie (& Jim) Curts. Shauna had numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Shauna was grateful for the care she received from Franciscan Hospice. She also loved animals and had a fondness, for not only her own dog, but her daughter’s disabled cat, who has since passed on. For these reasons, she wished that all donations or memorials to the family, be donated in her name to either Franciscan Hospice (2901 Bridgeport Way W; University Place, WA 98466) or Animals with Disabilities (PO Box 613; Mt Lake Terrace, WA 98043).
