Obituary of Leslie Leroy Sample

On Friday May 8th, 2009 Les Sample Sr. 78, passed on peacefully to be with our Lord Jesus with his family by his side. This gracious wonderful man will be missed dearly by many, many people. He was born November 24th,1930 in Redding, New York. He married Norma and they found their way to New Mexico where he served as a deputy sheriff. From there, their growing family headed north living in California for 9 years working for Roofing Contractors and he enjoyed meeting interesting celebrities. He finally moved his family to Tacoma in 1968 and in 1970 began “Sample’s Roofing“. He created an honorable family business he was proud of. He retired in 1993 missing the most important part of his work, the people. Les was a devoted husband and a spectacular father. He loved people, always ready with a story and always there to help. He believed in honesty and fairness, always giving his best and keeping business above board. He was proud of his skills and accomplishments. He took pride in his WWII memorabilia and his coin and stamp collection. He was especially fond of his “Momma-kitty”.
