Obituary of Janet Susan Boyce

It is with deep sadness we share that Janet Boyce passed away from colon cancer on Saturday May 4th 2024 at Good Samaritan hospital in Puyallup, WA at the age of 74 a little over a month shy of her 75th birthday.

Janet lived her entire life in Pierce County, WA. She grew up in Parkland, WA where she met the love of her life, Cliff Boyce. Her family relocated to Puyallup, but the two reunited and then dated while attending Franklin Pierce High School. They married on April 4th, 1970.

First and foremost, Jan loved horses. She told Cliff when they married that he was marrying her horses too. She spent her time whether it be at her house, around the neighborhood, at the Tacoma Unit, the ocean, the reservation, or in the mountains riding with her friends Conny, Sue, Brenna, Vicky and Marilyn among others. She also adored cats and has always had at least four at a time (usually more) that have brought her great joy.

Jan was an amazing artist. Her walls were covered with her paintings and drawings. She won contests, sold some, but mainly drew for the love of drawing. She predominantly drew horses and cats, but you could put a picture in front of her (as long as it wasn’t of people) and she could replicate it on canvas.

She had many pen pals all over the United States. She has had some for decades. She was a devoted friend, hand writing letters to them all. The only times that would prevent her from writing was when her arthritis would flare up. She was always seen with a clip board in her lap, writing in her very neat cursive conveying her thoughts and feelings to her friends far away

Jan is survived by her two children Leslie Embrey and Tony Boyce, her two grandchildren Jackson and Bowen Embrey and her brother Dennis Scott.

Jan’s ashes will be scattered along with her husband who predeceased her. She will be missed terribly and remembered fondly by all who knew and loved her. There are no plans for a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to your local ASPCA or local animal shelter.
