Curran Ragan

Obituary of Curran N Ragan

Curran Nicholas Ragan, passed away unexpectedly at home in Tacoma, Washington on the morning of Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the age of 36. Curran went to meet his Heavenly Father while waiting for the light of his life, his daughter Kylie, to arrive for their day together.

The eldest of four siblings, Curran was born in Pensacola, Florida on Monday, February 9, 1987 to parents Michelle and Matthew. After Matthew finished Pensacola flight school in 1988, the family moved to Virginia where Curran welcomed his first sister, Emily in 1989, and his little brother, Marc, in 1990. In 1991, the family made their way out west to Monterey, California for Matthew to attend the naval post graduate program. Shortly after the move to Monterey, Michelle, Curran, Emily, and Marc relocated to Washington.

Following the move to Washington, Curran's youngest sister, Stephanie, was born in 1996. Curran attended Renton Christian School through 8th grade, Lindberg High School for grades 9-11th, and graduated from Maple Valley High School in 2006. It was during his formative educational years where he developed his affinity for outdoor recreation and sports. Curran would joke of his great high school baseball achievement of foul tipping a fastball from the eventual Cy Young award-winning pitcher Tim Lincecum, light up at the prospect of hitting the links, especially with Jordan, and was (almost) never late for an early morning fishing trip.

At the age of 19, Curran started his career in the car business as a salesman at Burien Chevrolet. To the surprise of none, his charismatic, clever, high-energy personality fit well and he quickly achieved success. After years of hard work as a salesman Curran took after his mother and moved into a Finance Manager position in recent years.

June 1, 2019 changed Curran’s world when he welcomed his beautiful daughter, Kylie Marie Ragan, into his life. Curran’s smile was never bigger than when he was with Kylie or sharing stories and pictures of taking her to the Zoo or her ‘horsing around’ with Mimi. Curran was many things to many people - above all he was a father to his daughter.

Curran will be remembered as an incredible father, protective big brother, loving son and for his giant, genuine, heart. He is survived by his daughter - Kylie Marie Ragan, Mother- Michelle Graves, Sisters – Emily Ragan and Stephanie Stout, Brother – Marc T. Ragan, Grandparents – Gary and Leanne Ward, Step-Father – Patrick Graves, Step-Brothers - Brandon and Drake Graves, Favorite Nephews - Julian and Jonathan(Emily), Uncle Tim, Aunt Jill, Cousins Dawson and Luke and countless friends, colleagues, and acquaintances.

Family and friends are welcome to attend Curran’s Celebration of Life, which will be held at First Christian Church in Port Orchard, Washington on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
