Obituary of Summer Madisyn Gilman

Summer Madisyn Gilman blessed this world on April 23, 1994 in Tacoma, WA. On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, Summer passed away in her sleep at her home at the age of 28. Summer knew from 12 years old that she wanted to be a nurse, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Pacific Lutheran University with her Bachelors degree in Nursing. She continued on to become a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Tacoma General Hospital, where she had a reputation for being the most compassionate nurse and advocate for her patients, and always lent a helping hand to her fellow nurses.  Summer leaves behind two beautiful daughters Ava(5) and Maiya(2), her parents Barney and Renee, sister Amanda, nephew Colby, partner Lloyd, grandmother Judy, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and nursing colleagues. To know Summer is to know love. She was undeniably genuine and kind to every person she came into contact with. Summer was the type of person you could go to for anything. She would listen, not judge, and know exactly what to say to make you feel better. Summer was amazing at fostering friendships, still in contact with friends she’s made even in preschool. To be around her was to be laughing - her sense of humor and her laugh was so contagious. Summer loved to dance, go to concerts, go camping with her family, and travel. More than anything, Summer loved being a mom and was so proud of her two daughters, Ava and Maiya. She cherished them more than anything in the world. Summer will be missed immensely. The family plans to hold a celebration of life for Summer in April 2023 and will post the information when it has been decided.
