Today would have been Dave's 72nd birthday. For the first time in 30 or 40 years, maybe longer, I will not be able to call and wish him "happy birthday." We talked on the phone once or twice a month for longer than I can remember often for hours at a time. Always a pleasant conversation. I would tell him about my travels around Alaska and he would keep me up to date about what was happening in the 'lower 48.' People say time heals all wounds and for the most part I find that to be true. But now and especially on Dave's birthday I feel like something special has disappeared from my life. I doubt if Dave had any idea just how many people would miss him. He touched a lot of lives and I can say I feel I'm a better person for having known him. I know I will surely miss him. So one last time, "Happy Birthday Dave." Your friend always, Forrest

I knew David from kindergarten through high school. He was a great person to be around, treating everyone with kindness. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing, but heaven just inherited a heck of a guy!
