James “Jimmy” Zevenbergen was born in Plankington, South Dakota, in February 1941. His parents moved to Tacoma with their four (later six) children in 1943.

Jimmy graduated from Lincoln High School, served in the Army, and then opened a used car business, which he successfully ran for 50 years. By the time he closed the business at age 70, almost all of his customers were repeats. Jimmy loved cars and motorcycles, riding with a group of friends and racing at drag strips for many years. He was a member and Sunday morning regular at University Place Presbyterian Church until his illness prevented his attendance. Jimmy could be counted on to meet his responsibilities, to do any favor that was asked, and to make any gathering of friends or family more fun.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce, children Mike and Terri, their spouses, four grandchildren, four brothers and sisters, a large extended family, and friends. He will be remembered and missed.
