Obituary of Luandray Chevelle Walker Sr.

Luandray Chevelle Walker Sr., Beloved Father of 3, Son and Brother died Wednesday January 12th, 2022, at his home in Tacoma, Washington. He was 57 years old.

A lifelong self-taught musician mainly Drummer, Chevelle as we most called him, was born October 9, 1964 in Phoenix Arizona, to Parents Hudson & Allene Walker (Notario). His earliest memories were of the small church in Phoenix where his gift of Drumming all started! All it took was the drummer leaving them unmanned while the church started to sign, and little Chevelle at 2 years of age climbed on those drums, and as they say, the rest is history! He became one of the most talented drummers this world has ever seen. If you were blessed enough to hear him really play, you know what we mean.

He was a High School graduate of Newport High School in Bellevue Washington. Where he also was a standout athlete. Competing in Basketball and Track & Field in which he excelled greatly. He was an all-league Basketball player and held a school record in the Triple Jump earning him the nickname “Sky Walker”.

As an adult Chevelle had many jobs including playing professionally on the “Musicians Circuit” Where he would occasionally drum for professional artist that came to town and for a few local churches! He was a mainstay at his most recent church of 3 years “New Beginnings COGIC”, not only as a drummer but took on the role of piano player on the churches electric piano when his brother joined him at the church. Like so many of their childhood sessions before…

Chevelle and Erin Walker were married in 1992 at St. Peters United Methodist Church and welcomed Luandray Chevelle Walker Jr. on October 6th, 1993, to add to their other two daughters, Kara and Karmen.

In addition to his 3 children (Including one grandchild Kimora), Chevelle is mourned by both parents Hudson & Allene, brother Keith and a host of cousins, aunts and uncles spread all over the country!

A memorial service will be hosted on February 12th at 12:00 PM at Lamb of God Christian Community Church, 711 S 25th ST, Tacoma, Washington 98405. For those who would like to contribute to the family please feel free to reach out to the family for details…

He will be dearly missed by all, including anyone who had the opportunity to meet and speak with him. He was one of a kind…
